May, 1st 1996 one of the
Worlds largest chess events begun. A friendly correspondence chess match
between Germany (BdF) and Italy (ASIGC). 1.111 Germans against 1.111 Italians
- 2 games at each board. Among the players you
will find 1 World Champion, 14 Grand masters and more than 200 International
Masters (ICCF and FIDE). The match were published
in the '98 Guinness Book of Records! Team Captains are: Karl-Heinz Podzielny (GER) and Gianni Mastrojeni (ITA) The match is still going
