"SuperBowl" of On-line Correspondence Chess
By Søren Peschardt On-line Correspondence Chess, where the players publish the actual positions in their games at the Internet, is quite a new invention. As always, a new feature is regarded with great enthusiasm from some - and with great criticism from others. People in favour welcome on-line games as a method to bring "new life" to our wonderful sport and to a new way of increasing interest. People against cries "cheating" and describes it as "yet another nail in the coffin"! ICCF has no official policy regarding on-line CC, but the matter will come up for serious talks at the Congress in September. In the meanwhile the item has been (and will continue to be!) discussed intense at the TCCMB. Please feel free to express your point of views there! One of the arguments against on-line CC is, that players might get help (wanted or not) from others. I'm quite sure NOBODY will dare to help any of these players in this tournament! As Nol van't Riet informs you below (here), the Milennium Email Chess Tournament involves 6 of the super-heavyweight champions in Correspondence Chess. They are all among the 10 highest rated (ICCF rating = REAL rating!!) players in the World. Two of them are even also involved in the fight for honour and glory in the soon to be finished XV. World Championshipc Final. Also: Games will be published with a 3-move delay and updates will appear once a month (will be annouced at the index-page). MECT is a double round-robin tournament, where everybody plays 2 games against each other. To make access (and maintaining!) comfortable, I have chosen to show separate files for the players white games. Please tell me what you think about these pages in particular, the used technique (Palview) and the access-time. You are welcome to send me a personal email (kskakdsu@post5.tele.dk), but it would be best to publish it at TCCMB |
